Woww cliche title i know, but it had to be done. (ps yes it was a saddle club reference)
As per every other blog in the history of the universe, my first post is going to be a way for you creepy internet catfish to get to know me, so here we go.
My name is Madeline (pronounced more like madelyn, not like the little french girl in that tv show) but everyone calls me Maddie. This nickname of mine goes strongly against my mothers intentions, as she always tells me "if I wanted people to call you Maddie i would have named you that in the first place", soz mum. Ive recently turned 18 (still accepting late gifts) and i live in Sydney, Australia. I graduated high school last year and am currently at university studying marketing.
Without killing you all with stereotypical facts about me I thought id let you know a few interesting things about my very boring life.
1. I have lived overseas: when I was in year 3 my family (mum and stepdad) moved overseas to New Zealand. We lived there for around 3 years, and to be honest, I never wanted to leave. The cold never phased me as i was always stoked to wake up to a snow covered garden in winter and the news that school was cancelled due to the weather. I adapted so well to the lifestyle change and wasn't too bothered to have to start school in a new country, probably because I got so much attention from the other school children due to my Australian accent.
2. I am multi-lingual: not many people believe me when I say that I have been taught 6 languages. When I was only a wee baby my first language was Spanish, I then learnt English so that I could start kindy and not be that weird child who didn't speak English. In Kindergarten - year 2 we were taught French, which is odd because what 4/5 year old has the mental capacity to learn a foreign language when most of us can't even read/write, but whatever. Then in year 4/5/6 I learnt German, which in my opinion was a waste of time because how many people do you bump into that happen to be fluent in German (I'm yet to find anyone). I then moved onto high school, and for some reason decided to choose Mandarin as the next language i was going to conquer. As a pleasant surprise I actually wasn't too bad at it, considering I was one of the only students who wasn't of an Asian background I was able to pick it up quite quickly. My last language that I took on was Italian. I had just moved to a new school and figured this was the best time to learn a new language. This time i chose Italian as it is widely spoken across the globe. To my surprise I loved the language and took it all the way through high school and it was one of my subjects for the HSC, and after 5 long years of studying italian I can now successfully watch Italian films without subtitles and chime into an odd conversation here and there.
So there you go, English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin and Italian. I can only speak three of those fluently (sometimes) now but that still makes me multi-lingual.
3. Birds: If you have ever been out with me in public you would have noticed that I have a large fear of birds. I don't really know exactly what it is about birds that scare me, however a large contributing factor would be the noise their wings make when they fly. There has been countless times where I will miss my bus to work because a bird is standing in the middle of the pathway and I just can't bring myself to walk past it. So basically I am just shit scared of birds
Anyway that concludes my first blog post, I hope you enjoyed reading it.
